The official ceremony that sanctioned the twinning between our village Xewkija and Italian village Castelvenere was held on Saturday 16th February 2002. This ceremony was held in Castelvenere and on the same occasion the Centru Xewkija city hall was inaugurated as well. Present for this historical event was a group from Xewkija led by Mayor Mr Mario Camilleri. 

On the 19th June the agreement between the villages of Xewkija and Castelvenere was reciprocated in Xewkija with the signing of the contract between Dr. Monica Vella and Dr. Mario Scetta, respectively Mayors of Xewkija and Castelvenere.
