The Xewkija Local Council together with Kumitat taz-Zghazagh Xewkin (Xewkija Youth Committee within the Prekursur Band Club) are doing a project at Triq Widnet il-Bahar, near the Xewkija Rosa Magro Primary School.

The said committee ordered and were responsible for the statue of St John The Baptist.  The construction works and pavements were carried out by the council.  The same area was also embellished by street furniture including decorative street lamps and benches.  Hedges and plants round the area were also be planted.  This project was sponsored by MEPA under the Urban Improvements Funds Scheme.
