On Friday 29th of January 2021 there was the inaugruation of the restoration project of the 18th Century Windmill which is unique in the maltese islands, as it is the only windmill that has an octagonal shape which represents the 8 wind directions. It is also the oldest windmill in Gozo. The restoration project costed €500,000 in which a great part of the costs were funded by the EU funds. The inauguration was done by the Gozo Minister Onor. Clint Camilleri together with the Parlament Secretary of EU Funds, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi. Present for the inauguration was also the Mayor Mr Hubert Saliba and Xewkija Local Council members, Archpriest Mons Daniel Xerri, workers who took part of the restoration and the general public. After the inauguration there were some folkloristic activities while the public can see the restoration works done also from the inside for the first time.
This iconic windmill can now be enjoyed by the public and future generations.
