Gaulitana: A Festival of Music returned for its now customary concert at Xewkija on Friday 12th April with a concert held at the Museum of Sculpture, Rotunda Church. Held in collaboration with the Xewkija Local Council , the concert featured German soprano Katharina M. Kagel accompanied by the Gaulitanus Choir’s resident accompanist Stephen Attard. Kagel was thus re-appearing at the festival following her participation in last year’s edition of the festival. She presented a recital of varied sacred works ranging from Mozart to Piazzolla and from Rossini to Jenkins. |
The appreciative and nice audience which filled this gem of a venue – which was specially lit up for the occasion – was led by Xewkija recently newly-elected mayor Paul Azzopardi and Gaulitana artistic director Colin Attard.
The festival continues on Sunday when Kagel and Attard team up again, this time presenting an excitingly varied repertoire of German songs at the Ministry for Gozo Hall, Victoria at 20.00hrs.
