On the 2nd September 2006, the Mayor Dr Monica Vella and Councillors Mr Donald Pace and Mr Teddy Mizzi welcomed Miss Gozo and other twenty four contestants for the Miss Malta 2006.

Miss Gozo 2006 was won by Miss Xewkija, Miss Tania Farrugia.  Miss Farrugia was given a special welcome by the Mayor and the Council at St John The Bapteis Square.  The Xewkija Local Council would like to congratulate Miss Tania Farrugia for this honour and for more success in her futrue.
